Single working/student mom...Advice on how to make TJED work for us
I learned of TJED years ago from a friend of mine. She is an inspiration to me, especially regarding her commitment to ensuring her children have a leadership education. While I had always hoped to follow this method, I now find myself unable to be home with my children.
Does anyone have any little (or huge) tips on how to make TJED work while children are a part of the "system?"
My children are 6 and 4 and still have a fabulous love of learning. I want them to preserve their curiosity until I am able to bring them back home.
Many thanks.
love of learning
I have not been in your position, so take this with a grain of salt. Remember to forgive yourself for what you're not able to do in your circumstances. In my core classic, God stresses to us that He knows what He's doing; this is for our growth, even when it looks like three steps back. Your children are also His children. He cares for them, as well as for you.
When you have to choose which things to focus on, focus on Core Phase. Love of Learning and (much) later Scholar Phase are in the future. Besides, the purely academic things your children will learn well enough from other sources. But Core Phase they need to get from you. No one "in the system" will be able to give them the security of knowing who they are, their individual worth, their value to the world and to God.
Ask for help. You don't have to do this alone. Gather with others who share your Core beliefs; support them and ask for their support for yourself and your family. Helping others will restore your perspective. There are good people who can help mentor your children. Seek them out.
Pray. Ask your higher power for help. It will come.
