How do I Announce/Introduce TJE to the kids?
I am obviously new to TJERefers generally to the concepts presented in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education, written by Dr. Oliver DeMille. We also have an Introduction to Thomas Jefferson Education available elsewhere on this site. and i am getting a little clearer picture of what a day would look like, but how do I officially get started, as in, how to i tell the kids why momma is not making you do all your typical assignments anymore. I have a 9yo girl who is probably at transition to LOL phase and i was thinking of taking her on a date and telling her i'm proud of what i've seen in her etc... and its time to move to the next level of her education: in her control now. or something like that, then see if she wants to play it by ear or plan it out. My 8 yo son is still Core so what do i tell him or explain to him? He'll probably be happy that he doesnt have to do his typical assignments anymore. I am just searching for help on how to start on that end. I am educating myself now, trying to share that with them what and why i am reading. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Trust the process
I would teach them why you are passionate about it. Teach them the 7 keys, 4 phases, etc. Make it a fun activity, do what it would take to get them on board.
The DeMille's always say that there needs to be a sort of a detox stage. Lots of core phase time, build relationships, let them realize that there is a transition happening and why. I think open communication is the best way to get it headed in the right direction.
If you haven't read it yet, TJed for Teens is a fun read. It has a great list of classics, and in fact, reading a classic might do double duty for you: It can grant you the time to "detox", build relationships, and be great practice.
I am not sure if this helps at all, I guess I was just thinking out loud. I hope the best for your family.
Always remember: YOU are the expert on your home, and that if you TRUST THE PROCESS it will work just right.
Blessings!
