Plutarch
Being newer here, please for give any "silly" questions, (how else am I to learn?!)
but would anyone recommend reading Plutarch's lives, as a classic book?
Charlotte Mason recommended this in homeschooling (admittedly, we have not yet started this book or any simillar, I have a thing about what is or IS NOT mythology..trying to avoid alotof it)
I own it.
I have a copy, and while I have not read the whole or even a majority of it, I think it's worth reading, especially if you're middle-to-high school age studying ancient history or leadership. The parts I read (Alexander the Great and some others) had no mythology that I remember, but were history stressing leadership characteristics. It did deal with history that happened so far in the past that it was practically legend when it was written, but it attributed successes to hard work and true principles, not purely divine intervention. It did recognize the importance of worship, as a political and society-building activity.
